Polypropylene pourovers have low thermal conductivity, which allows them to maintain a stable water temperature during the brewing process. This provides precise control over brewing time and a consistent cup of coffee. Polypropylene models are lightweight and durable, making them ideal for travel.

The main advantages of polypropylene pourover:

  • Low thermal conductivity
  • Affordable price
  • Strength
  • Lightness
  • Saving water and time for making coffee

What is a V60 pourover and how do you make coffee with it?
Pourover is an alternative method of brewing coffee using a funnel-shaped device. Pourover brewing is similar to the Chemex process, but has its own advantages. This method is great for bringing out floral, berry, and fruity flavors in coffee.

The classic coffee to water ratio for a Hario pourover is 15 grams of coffee to 240 ml of water. The optimal coffee to water ratio is 1:16, although this is not a mandatory rule and may vary depending on the recipe.

For preparation, a medium grind is used – coarser than for espresso, but finer than for a French press. The main guideline is the brewing time: if the water passes through the coffee too long, the grind should be made coarser; if too quickly – finer.

The optimal temperature for brewing coffee in a pourover is 90-95°C.

How to make coffee in a pourover:

  1. Boil the water (the best temperature is 92-96°C).
  2. Measure coffee, allowing for 6-10 grams for every 100 ml of water.
  3. Grind the coffee beans to a medium grind.
  4. Place the pourover with the paper filter on a cup or other container.
  5. Pour boiling water through the filter to heat it up and stick it to the walls. Drain the water.
  6. Pour coffee into the center of the filter.
  7. Slowly pour in a little hot water to moisten the coffee (the water should not be above the level of the coffee). Let stand for 30 seconds.
  8. Slowly pour in the remaining water, moving in a spiral from the center to the edges for 2 minutes.
  9. Wait until all the water has drained through the filter. The coffee is ready!
